Alaska is the most extensive state of the U.S., famous for its natural resources. Another nickname is “the Country Midnight Sun”, the Land of the Midnight Sun.The word Alaska comes from the Aleut alah’sah ‘or ala’sh’a, whales place, the whale abundance; another interpretation of Alaska - from the Aleut word meaning great land, a continent, the peninsula. The area of the state is 1717854 km ² (of which 236,507 km ² -is surface area) with the administrative center in Juneau, Juneau. The population is 670 thousand people.
